After disembarking the NCL Pride of America cruise, we booked a final night in Waikiki before flying home. It was mainly a timing thing, we didn’t want to stress about making our flight. Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani stood out as a clean, modern option in a great location, so we went with it.
With the cruise wrapping up in the morning and our flight home later that day, we wanted somewhere close by where we could shower, relax, and not feel rushed. Halepuna is about 11 km from the airport, and being right in the heart of Waikiki made it super convenient. We’d heard good things and figured it was a solid pick for one last night.

First Impressions
The lobby is open, airy, and welcoming with lots of natural light and a minimalist Hawaiian design that doesn’t try too hard. Check-in was quick and easy, and staff were friendly and helpful without being over the top.

The Room
Our room was bright, spacious, and well laid out. The design is simple but tasteful with neutral colours, comfy bed, and a bathroom that looked recently renovated. It all felt very clean and functional, which is exactly what we needed.
We had a carpark view, which wasn’t exciting, but we weren’t here for the views. The room did the job perfectly after a week in a cruise cabin.
Bakery, Beach & Easy Extras
One of the highlights was the Halekulani Bakery just downstairs. We grabbed coffee and pastries there in the morning, and it really hit the spot, good coffee, quick service, and a quiet vibe.
The beach is just across the road, through Halepuna’s sister hotel, Halekulani. It’s Waikiki, so it’s busy, but having easy access was great.
Poolside Vides
The rooftop pool is surprisingly spacious with a good number of loungers. Staff were around to help find seats and get people settled, which made things run smoothly. It wasn’t overcrowded, and the whole area felt calm and well looked after.

Points, Perks and Booking Details
Rates typically fall between USD $300–$400 per night, depending on the season and room type. It’s not the cheapest, but there are no resort fees, which helps. For a short stay with a few thoughtful perks, we felt it was decent value.
What We Liked
- Clean, comfortable rooms with a fresh feel
- Excellent location for walking to shops, restaurants, and the beach
- Friendly, helpful staff
- No resort fees
- The downstairs bakery is a great grab-and-go option
- Relaxing rooftop pool with good service
What Could Be Better
- Our room didn’t have much of a view
- Price might be a stretch for some, especially without ocean views
The Bottom Line
Halepuna was a great fit for our needs, modern, well-located, and easy. It’s not flashy, but it’s got everything you need for a short stay in Waikiki. If you’re wrapping up a cruise or looking for a stopover before a flight, it’s a solid option.
Would we stay again? Yes, next time we might try for an ocean view, but even without it, Halepuna made for a smooth, comfortable end to our trip.
