Sometimes gym challenges are just about burning calories and avoiding croissants. But this time it landed us in paradise. Craig won a recent fitness challenge through our gym and the grand prize was a long weekend at Shorelines on Hamilton Island. Naturally, I (Drew) was there to reap the benefits. Marriage perks. Joining our local gym, it’s more than just a place to sweat, it’s a community that lifts you up (sometimes literally), celebrates your wins, and occasionally surprises you with the most incredible prizes after six weeks of hard work.
We’d never stayed on Hamilton before, and while usually it’s been hotels for us, this time we were hosted in a privately owned townhouse. And let’s just say, it opened up a whole new perspective on how to experience the island.
First Impressions
From the moment we landed, the welcome was warm and wonderfully seamless. A friendly face greeted us at the airport and handed over the keys to our buggy (which, if you’ve been to Hamilton before, you’ll know is basically your island Uber). No check-in desks, no waiting, just straight to Shorelines 01 and into holiday mode.
The place itself was extremely spacious, airy, and absolutely ideal for families or small groups. With two bedrooms spread over two levels, full kitchen and laundry, and multiple balconies, it felt less like accommodation and more like a home. But, you know, the kind with jaw-dropping water views and tropical birds as your morning soundtrack.
The Space
Let’s talk about that view. The back wall of the living area opens right up to a huge balcony looking over the ocean. You get uninterrupted water views from sunrise to sunset, and let me tell you, sunset from up here was absolutely unreal. We had evening drinks and lazy breakfasts out there daily, pretending we were in some sort of luxury coastal ad campaign.
Inside, the layout is ideal for spreading out. The main bedroom downstairs has its own ensuite and private balcony, while the second bedroom gives everyone a bit of privacy. Furnishings are comfortable, think coastal comfort, which honestly suits the setting perfectly.
Location & Getting Around
Shorelines sits on the hillside above the marina, which gives you that elevated, peaceful vibe but keeps you close to all the island’s dining, shopping, and beach clubs. You’re only a five-minute buggy ride from the heart of town, which meant we could head out for dinner or grab a coffee with zero stress and always return to a quiet retreat.
The included buggy was a huge win. No need to rent one or coordinate pickups. We zipped around like seasoned locals and had way too much fun doing it.
What We Loved
- Those ocean views. It’s the kind of outlook that instantly calms your nervous system.
- The space and layout. Ideal for couples, families, or anyone who likes room to breathe on holiday.
- That buggy! So convenient. Honestly, it’s part of the fun of staying on the island.
- Feeling like a local. There’s something nice about doing your own breakfast or kicking back on the balcony without room service knocking.
The Verdict
If you’re after a Hamilton Island stay with a bit more space, privacy, and flexibility, Shorelines 01 ticks a lot of boxes. It’s a solid choice for groups, families, or couples wanting to self-cater, spread out, and soak up those iconic views.
Would we go back? Absolutely, especially if Craig keeps winning things.
